RAISING AWARENESS
Operation Salute continues to spread awareness of veterans' unfortunate conditions. The project, stemmed from veterans advocacy, aims to broaden youth awareness of veterans living in poverty or unsatisfactory conditions.

We talk about these situations during school Remembrance Day proceedings, as well as Legion youth events if invited. At Lorne Park we attempt to do so through a variety of methods, from poems to stories, and from choirs to bands.

If you'd like to get involved and spread awareness in your own community, you may start with contacting existing organizations such as the Memory Project (website can be found on home page), and booking a speaker to your institution. These people, many whom themselves are veterans, will be able to share their stories or experiences, and hopefully open some minds.
