OUR VISION
These courageous men and women stepped forward when others stayed back. They placed themselves between us and danger, protecting their country and its citizens. They leave the safety of their borders, warmth of their homes, and the love of their families to fight in an entire different country. They endured the unspeakable horrors of war, all the while acting as a conscience to our nation. That’s the brave souls of our veterans.
Yet, despite their tremendous sacrifices, some service members unfortunately live in poverty or poor conditions. Worse, they may be under-appreciated in our own communities. Inspired by the Youth Ambassadors Program and the local Canadian Legion branch, this youth-led service initiative seeks to uplift the spirits of our national heroes and find an effective way of showing them our sincere appreciation for their sacrifices.
Operation Salute, awarded the Speak-Up Project Grant 2016-17 funded by the Ontario Ministry of Education, is a veterans’ advocacy project aimed at connecting the youth generation with the local Veterans. Our main vision is to make the Veterans feel warmly-welcomed and well-respected throughout the community. See how you can get involved in your own communities!
